Administrators, nurses, advocates and patients of North Adams Regional Hospital made arguments for and against ending inpatient pediatric and psychiatric services at the hospital during two public hearings held by the state Department of Public Health on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013.
Although the state Department of Public Health has no regulatory authority and cannot stop the hospital from restructuring and closing departments, it will determine whether or not NARH’s plans constitute a cut of “essential services.”
